What is Post-COVID Syndrome?

Many people who contract COVID often feel better in a few days or weeks and most will make a full recovery within 4 weeks. But for some people, symptoms can last longer, and recovery can feel much harder.  This can be described as Post-COVID Syndrome (also known as Long COVID).  Please click on the link below for more information about this and about the Post Covid Rehabilitation Service.

Flu Clinics - 2021

We are now booking appointments at Brant Road Surgery for patients eligible for the flu vaccine.  If we have your mobile telephone number, you will receive a booking link so that you can book the appointment yourself.  All patients aged 50 and over are eligible for the vaccine this year as well as all patients under 50 years who have specific underlying health conditions.  If you do not receive a booking link, please contact reception on 01522 724411 to book your appointment.  Please also let us know if you don't wish to have the flu vaccine this year so that we can update your records and don't keep contacting you.  School aged children will be offered the vaccine via the school nurse.  School aged children with specific underlying health conditions can attend the surgery for their flu vaccines once the clinics are available.  We will be inviting children aged 2 and 3 into the surgery to receive the nasal flu.  We will be in touch when the children's clinics are available to book.

Covid Boosters & Primary Doses

Covid booster clinics are being held at the Waddington Surgery if you are aged 18 or over and it is at least 3 months since your last primary dose of the covid vaccine.  If we have your up to date mobile telephone number, you will have received a self booking link.  If you believe you are eligible and have not heard from us, please contact reception to book this.  If you are in an at risk category (aged 12-15) or 16 or over and have not yet completed your primary course, please contact us to book this.  The Waddington Surgery vaccine clinics are likely to discontinue mid/end of January.  After this time, you will be redirected to a mass vaccination site for your covid vaccines.

Blood Appointments

If you have been asked to have a blood test for a consultant or hospital appointment you must attend the hospital phlebotomy department.

Your GP surgery is not responsible for taking bloods for hospital treatments or follow up appointments.

General Practice Data for planning and research (GPDRP)

Why NHS Digital collects general practice data

NHS Digital is the national custodian for health and care data in England and has responsibility for standardising, collecting, analysing, publishing and sharing data and information from across the health and social care system, including general practice.

NHS Digital collected data from general practices using a service called the General Practice Extraction Service (GPES), which has operated for over 10 years and now needs to be replaced.

For more information about the changes or to opt out go to General Practice Data for Planning and Research (GPDPR) - NHS Digital

Prescribing of Over The Counter Medicines

Over the counter medicines for minor health concerns are available to buy in a pharmacy or local supermarket in your local community.  Our practice follows NHS England's guidance on this and will not generally give you a prescription for medicines which can be bought over the counter.  Please follow the link below to read the guidance in full.
